Albuquerque Museum to feature O’Keeffe and Moore

The Albuquerque Museum has announced its upcoming exhibition, "O'Keeffe and Moore," featuring the works of renowned modernists Georgia O'Keeffe and Henry Moore. Running from September 30 to December 31, 2023, this exhibition allows visitors to delve into the artistic contributions of these two artists. The exhibition is co-organized by the San Diego Museum of Art, Albuquerque Museum, Henry Moore Foundation, and Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, and is supported by federal indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.

Curated by Anita Feldman, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Education at The San Diego Museum of Art, the "O'Keeffe and Moore" exhibition offers a comprehensive catalog with insights from prominent scholars. After its run in Albuquerque, the exhibition will travel to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Canada. Andrew Connors, director of the Albuquerque Museum, expressed his excitement about showcasing these prolific artists, particularly O'Keeffe, who is beloved by many New Mexicans. He believes that the exhibition highlights the unexpected similarities between the two artists through their selection of iconic paintings, sculptures, and drawings.

Both Georgia O'Keeffe and Henry Moore were pioneers in their distinct approaches to Modernism. Focusing on natural forms, they collected various objects such as animal skulls, bones, tree roots, and seashells, which served as inspiration for their art. The exhibition offers viewers the opportunity to explore re-created studios, complete with original contents of found objects, tools, and furnishings, giving them a glimpse into the creative processes of these artists.
