Albuquerque-based US Eagle Federal Credit Union has grown substantially since it was established 88 years ago and has expanded with nine branches across New Mexico.

US Eagle Federal Credit Union started with just one employee and 10 members back in 1935, but now has 249 employees and 79,785 members, according to Wikipedia

US Eagle Federal Credit Union was founded in 1935 in Albuquerque with one employee, $50 and 10 original members. Since then it has grown to 249 employees, 79,785 members and $1.18 billion in assets. It has branches in Albuquerque, Farmington, Santa Fe and Bernalillo.

"As New Mexico's longest-standing, member-owned credit union, we will always put the needs of the people first," Rachel Pierce, US Eagle's Public Relations and Community Outreach Manager, told the New Mexico Sun. "We are not-for-profit. That means are members are not just a number - and they won't be treated like one."

According to the credit union's website, US Eagle supports its communities through volunteerism, in-person participation and monetary donations. It's affiliated with several nonprofits including: Rio Grande Food Project, Casa Esperanza, The Albuquerque Community Foundation, United Way, Meals on Wheels, Explora, and the Domestic Violence Resource Center.

The bank also supports the New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) and is a sponsor for the 2023 Heroes Banquet in November which recognizes families of fallen first responders and honors veterans who have gone above and beyond the line of duty, according to the NMBC.

"US Eagle has raised a total of $35,000 through the METTLE campaign, which will go directly to our partner nonprofits," Pierce said. "We are honored to assist these organizations, and equally grateful for greater involvement with New Mexico Business Coalition by being a sponsor of the 2023 Heroes Event."

Additionally, US Eagle established the ARNIA Foundation, a 501(3) nonprofit that supports the community with grants to non-credit unions, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions. According to its website, the ARNIA Foundation was created "to drive our ‘people mean more’ philosophy by improving the quality of life in the communities we serve."  According to the foundation's description, that goal is accomplished by providing financial assistance to "programs and projects that ‘make it better,’ and provide a safer place to live, learn, work and play.”
