5. PUBLIC COMMENT

No public comments.

6. NEW BUSINESS

a. 2022 Veteran Events (Staff Liaision, Julie Sanchez)

The Veterans Advisory Board discussed supporting the following events:

Memorial Day – May 28th

Veterans Day – November 11th

July 4th – Participation in the parade (if the parade is happening)

Military Day in the Rotunda (January - February 2023)

Chair Seaton gave the members an update on the marketing and promotional items the Board purchased earlier this month. Each member received a vacuum sealed travel mug with the VAB logo on it. These are given to special guests, members and dignitaries. Chair Seaton asked that each member give the staff liaison their size for the VAB polo shirts. The Chair will work with the staff liaision to get new gender-neutral shirts ordered.

8. MATTERS FROM THE COMMITTEE

a. Upcoming Events

The veterans legacy event was discussed, sponsorships for events, and teaming up with the Santa Fe Community College Veterans Resource Center on the annual Veteran Resource Day.

b. Update on MOA

The staff liaision gave an update on the MOA – all signatures have been recieved and the final signed MOA will be sent to the board members.

c. VAB Fund Balance

The staff liaison stated that about 60% of the veteran support funds have been expended and the navigation contract is set to be fully expended. Now that the MOA is in place with the SFCC Foundation they can start billing for scholarships they’ve awarded.

9. MATTERS FROM STAFF

The staff liaison gave an update on hiring and new positions that have been budgeted. The VAB will soon get a new liaison as soon as the position is hired.
