On Wednesday, Mayor Tim Keller said that the Rail Trail project will be a landmark that is powerful and impactful.

Albuquerque’s Rail Trail project is receiving a $10 million grant from the state of New Mexico, according to KRQE. Officials joined together at the rail yards Wednesday to reveal the news in downtown Albuquerque.

“It will be a landmark that every person in this city knows about and has been to," Mayor Keller said on Wednesday. "That’s how powerful and impactful this project is."

This project will link the downtown with Sawmill District, Old Town, and the Bosque through a seven-mile loop of multi-use trails. The $10 million from the state will be added to the $15 million from the city, and the estimated project total is expected to cost about $40 million.
