A local nonprofit recently signaled the upcoming school year by issuing school clothes and other essentials to families in need. Locker 505 celebrated its expansion into a new facility by treating thousands of families with goods for the upcoming school year.

Kim Kirschen, the executive director of Locker 505, said the nonprofit, which began in 2018 by helping 400 Bernalillo County students and served more than 2,000 last year, was excited about expanding, KOB 4 reported.

“This year, we will begin serving not only Bernalillo County but Valencia County, Sandoval County and Torrance County,” Kirschen told KOB 4. “That means we have to keep a whole lot more clothing on hand because we see 25, 35 kids a day, so we need to keep that selection up for them just like any place where you would shop.”

The new location, which boasted more options of styles, colors and sizes, is ready to meet the larger demand. Organizers told KOB 4 that monetary donations and slightly-used clothing can be a huge help to the nonprofit. Anyone wishing to learn more about how to donate or learn more details can click here.

The new facility is located at 6203 Menual Blvd. NE, near San Pedro and Menual on the north side of the street. Locker 505 held its inaugural Golf Tournament at Sandia Golf Cub in April.
