Albuquerque’s first Amazon facility (ABQ-1) recently provided KOB 4 a look inside the facility located in the western portion of the city.

ABQ-1 features state-of-the-art technology that facilitates products getting to customers on time, a KOB 4 report said this week.

“We are actually the newest generation of fulfillment technology,” Dan Monson, assistant general manager of ABQ-1, told KOB 4. “So we’re the first fulfillment center to launch with the technology that you saw here.”

While the facility is not as large as other fulfillment centers, it houses over 40 million different products.

"This is just one of the major companies choosing Albuquerque as a premier location,” Mayor Tim Keller said in a 2021 news release. "They recognize that our efforts to support local businesses and our quality of life makes this the place to be. There are thousands of good jobs headed to our city, more than over the past decade combined. By creating an intermodal transportation hub at the Sunport, we can strengthen and boost our local economy.”

ABQ-1 employs approximately 3,000 people with starting pay at $15.50 an hour, Monson said.
