The University of New Mexico Women's Basketball Team scored a 20-point win over Grand Canyon University during their opening game of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

On March 16, The Lobos won 92-72 over GCU during their first game of the WNIT with a 20 point lead over their competition, making it the fourth time this season the team has scored 90-plus points and the first time since 2019 that UNM has had three 20-point scorers, according to Go Lobos

"Excited about the way our team came out tonight. Our focus the last two days in practice has been as good as it's been all year," Lobos head coach Mike Bradbury said in a release.

Of their three 20-point scorers, the Lobos saw LaTascya Duff score 27 points during the game, culminating in a season- and game-high. Alongside Duff, Jaedyn De La Cerda scored 22 points with four three-pointers and Shaiquel McGruder finished with 20 points, according to Go Lobos.

The game started as a back and forth between the two teams until the Lobos were able to remain consistently ahead of GCU following assists on 27 of UNM's 34 baskets with seven different Lobos recording at least one assist. UNM also dominated in three-pointers with 14 by the end of the game, shooting 46.7 percent from three and 51.5 percent from the floor, according to Go Lobos.
