The National EV Charging Initiative on Jan. 20 hosted a half-day virtual summit to bring together people throughout the electric vehicle (EV) industry and government officials to discuss commitments and strategies for deploying EVs.

The summit was also a place for the Biden Administration to lay out what they intend to achieve and hear back from companies who want to get involved and help achieve that goal, according to the Initiative's website.

@USDOT is serious about addressing the #ClimateCrisis - and working with our partners at @ENERGY (Department of Energy)," Deputy Secretary of the DOT, Polly Trottenberg said in a tweet.

The Department of Transportation was in attendance at the National EV Charging Summit to talk about EV charging investments. According to the initiative website, leading the show was emcee Dianne Dwyer, a broadcast journalist for NBC and KTVU.

The summit was broken into different topic categories such as going over initiative commitments like job creation and equity; needs; and numbers and finances, according to the initiative website.

Some of the summit speakers included Climate Equity Program Manager for The Greenlining Institute Leslie Aguayo; President & Chief Executive Officer for NRDC Manish Bapna; President and CEO for CALSTART John Boesel; President & CEO for Alliance for Automotive Innovation John Bozzella; President and CEO for NV Energy Doug Cannon.
