Nothing like spreading the wealth to help a team win. Five Lobos scored in double figures as the team fought its way to a 75-72 Mountain West women’s basketball conference win over San Diego State on Sunday.
Jaedyn De La Cerda and Shaiquel McGruder each sank 17 points to lead the offense. LaTora Duff added 14, and her sister LaTascya Duff scored 11. The fifth starter, Antonia Anderson, rounded out the field with 12.
The balanced attack advanced New Mexico to a 4-0 record as they hold the top spot in the conference.
The team’s website called it "another 40-minute battle."
The Lobos have owned the Aztecs of late, checking off a win three times in a row.
The game was close throughout, with San Diego State holding a 1-point lead after three quarters. The Lobos posted a 17-2 run early in the fourth, but San Diego State fought back after that, making the game close in the waning minutes.
New Mexico next travels to Wyoming for a game Thursday.
