One New Mexico State University faculty member who had been outspoken against campus mask and vaccination requirements is no longer employed by the school, according to a KOAT report.

NMSU confirmed to KOAT that David Clements, a business professor who has written and spoken out against vaccine and mask laws, is no longer employed by the institution, but did not provide a reason.

A spokesperson for UNM, Cinnamon Blair, said that faculty compliance there regarding vaccination and mask requirements surpasses 99%.

"We have maybe one or two that we are working with right now but our faculty have led the way in compliance with her vaccine,” Blair told the station.

Blair also stated that  98% of the university's roughly 20,000 students have complied with vaccination requirements or have relocated to a distant location if they do have a religious or medical exemption.

Currently, over 400 UNM students have not submitted immunization records or exemptions.

Additionally, thirty students have chosen to participate in weekly COVID-19 testing; however, this will no longer be an option at the university next semester.
