The University of New Mexico Lobos are still unsure who will be the starting quarterback in Saturday's game as regular quarterback Terry Wilson is still out with swelling in his elbow.

Last Saturday, freshman CJ Montes started in Wilson's place in the game against Colorado State—a game the Lobos lost.

“We’ve been good the places I’ve been for so long, it’s really frustrating, but it’s why I’m here,” Lobos Head Coach Danny Gonzales told KRQE. “Looking at the grand scheme of this whole build, and I know I say it all the time, people are going to get tired of hearing it. The year two was the year I was most concerned of. I was hoping with the addition of being able to bring back COVID seniors that it might lessen that blow a little bit. It hasn’t.”

Another potential alternative quarterback is Isaiah Chavez, who is the only one at that position on the team with wins in Mountain West play.

Gonzales has said that he would be more comfortable with Chavez playing if Wilson cannot.
