New Mexico United forward Daniel Bruce has announced that the 2025 season will be his last as a professional footballer, bringing an end to a notable career with the club.
“This club means so much to me — not because of the goals, assists, or even the wins, but because of the incredible people who make this club and this state so special,” Bruce said.
“So many unforgettable moments have shaped the past seven years, and most of them had nothing to do with me — I just had the best seat in the house. For that, I’ll always be grateful.”
Bruce joined New Mexico United in April 2019. Over six seasons, he played 170 matches, accumulating 7,808 minutes, 17 goals, and 21 assists. His time with the team was marked by his energetic playing style and consistent presence on the field.
In 2023, Bruce had his most productive season, achieving personal bests with 6 goals and 5 assists in 1,298 minutes of play. He also reached career-high averages of 0.35 goals per 90 minutes and 0.68 goal contributions per 90 minutes.
Beyond his on-field contributions, Bruce has been active in community outreach. He participated in about 90 community events, including school visits, youth clinics, club functions, and special events. Through these activities, he engaged directly with nearly 7,000 individuals and reached over 1.2 million fans during matches.
Peter Trevisani, CEO and Majority Owner of New Mexico United, commented on Bruce’s impact: “We will never have another Daniel Bruce. On the field, Daniel embodies everything we value in a New Mexico United player—he’s hardworking, gritty, and a selfless teammate. It’s no surprise he holds so many records for the club.
But as great as he’s been on the field, he’s had an even greater impact off of it. He cares deeply about our community. While I don’t know exactly what his future holds, I do know that New Mexico will always be a part of it. Simply put, Daniel Bruce is a hero.”
Bruce will speak to the media and reflect on his career at a press conference scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 12:15 p.m. The club has also invited fans to celebrate Bruce during the final regular season match of 2025, which will be his last appearance in the team's colors. Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to honor his career.
