Lobo women's hoops picked second in Mountain West preseason poll

University of New Mexico women's basketball was picked to finish second in the Mountain West preseason poll with 251 points and seven first-place votes as voted on by conference head coaches and media.

The annual conference preseason poll was released on Wednesday, where six out of eleven Mountain West teams received first-place votes. Fresno State took the top position with 13 first-place votes and 269 points.

According to a UNM release, the Lobos led the conference in scoring margin (11.2), assist/turnover ratio (1.38), assists per game (16.07) and turnover margin (3.71) last season. The Lobos also were first in 3-point field-goals made (10.1 per game) and second in field-goal percentage (.450).

It is only the second time that the Lobos have been picked to finish in second, the last coming in 2019-20.

UNM senior Antonia Anderson was one of five players selected to the MW preseason all-conference team.
