Bernalillo County offices closed after gunfire breaks windows, leaving 'a great deal of disappointment' for county employees

Bernalillo County 's downtown Albuquerque Alvarado Square offices were closed Monday and Tuesday after gunfire broke several windows.

According to KRQE, police are investigating the incident after at least eight windows were damaged by vandalism early Monday morning.

"About 3:15 a.m. this morning, gunshots were fired and hit the upper windows in the atrium area of Alvarado Square, which is also the lobby area," Communications Director for the Bernalillo County Tia Bland told KRQE.

“You don’t expect to hear this kind of news, to receive a call early in the morning that someone has fired gunshots into your workplace,” Tia Bland, communications director for Bernalillo County told the station. “A lot of the employees are feeling a great deal of disappointment this morning, that someone would choose to vandalize a beautiful building that’s available for the community to come and conduct business with Bernalillo County."
