A recent poll shows Albuquerque mayor Tim Keller has a solid lead in his reelection bid, with 47% of those surveyed ready to give the incumbent another four years in office.

The Paper polled 800 registered voters last month, KRQE reported, with Keller, 43, emerging as a big favorite over Sheriff Manny Gonzales, who drew 21% of the support, while radio host Eddy Aragon is favored by 11%.

“Mayor Keller, who has worked to turn out a younger generation and all of the Democrats, he’s turning out people who potentially don’t support him,” The Paper's Adrian Carver told the station.

Keller, who took office in 2017, needs to garner 50% of the vote during the general election to avoid a runoff, and according to The Paper, he only needs a few more undecided voters in his camp to do just that.
