Roswell native and University of New Mexico running back DonTrell Moore will be added to the UNM Football Ring of Honor on Oct. 16 as the Lobos take on Colorado State  at University Stadium.

UNM's Hall of Honor inductees will be introduced during halftime, and Moore, who has 16 UNM football records, will be the sixth player to be inducted for Lobo Football, KRQE reported.

“We are going to add another name up there and it’s a great football player that’s well-deserving. We are going to add DonTrell Moore to the Ring of Honor. Between him and Bobby Santiago and Don Perkins, we have had some unbelievable running backs in this program and he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest,” UNM Head Football Coach Danny Gonzales told Fox News

According to a UNM release, Moore won the 2000 state title as the star running back for Roswell High School and was a member of the 2000 Parade All-American Team. He also rushed more than 6,000 yards while carrying a 4.0 GPA. Moore is a four-time First Team All-Mountain West selection (2002-05), 2002 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year after his senior year (2005), honorable mention All-America by Sports Illustrated and was a Doak Walker semifinalist.

Moore graduated 16 years ago, but his UNM records still stand. The Lobos will play on Saturday, coming back from a three-game losing streak after last week's game that ended 38-10 against Air Force. Last week's saw Lobos out because of COVID-19 protocols, but this week, all players are expected to be on the field for the game.
