Albuquerque's 2021 International Balloon Fiesta is in full swing, and even the weather appeared to be joining in on the celebration during the first weekend of the nine-day colorful launch of hot air balloons.
The fiesta started on Saturday, Oct. 2 and will run through Oct. 10, according to KRQE.
"You can't beat all the mass ascension of balloons in the sky and, you know, the sunrise with the balloons glowing in the sky as well," Brian Sanchez, an Albuquerque resident, told KRQE. "It's just noting you can see anywhere else in the world."
Tom Garrity, a spokesperson for the Balloon Fiesta, even tweeted about the beautiful conditions for the launches and said it "really can't get much better than this."
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is in its 49th year and is known around the world, according to Visit Albuquerque. It takes place during the first week each October and attracts tourists from all over the world to watch hundreds of balloons take flight from Balloon Fiesta Park.
Tickets for Albuquerque's International Balloon Fiesta can be purchased online on the festival's website. Yearly, more than 866,000 people attend the fiesta over the course of nine days to see 588 balloons flown by pilots from around the globe.
