A pet care center that allows pet owners to bring pets in for care no matter what they can pay just opened its doors in Albuquerque.
"We love our pets here in Albuquerque, we love our pets in New Mexico. A limitation of resources should not limit your ability to take care of your pet," Dr. Nicole Vigil, chief veterinarian at the Preventative Pet Care Clinic, told KRQE.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, Sept. 17 for the new facility where low- to moderate-income owners can get basic care for their pets with some help from a $300,000 grant from the Dennis Friends Foundation. It offers micro-chipping and vaccinations, in addition to other services such as spaying and neutering.
For now, the clinic will honor vouchers awarded by the city, but the goal is to eventually move towards a sliding fee scale, according to KRQE News.
Low- and moderate-income residents of Albuquerque seeking spay/neuter services can apply to qualify for the AWD Spay/Neuter Lottery on the City of Albuquerque's site.
Preventative Pet Care Clinic is located in the Copper Pointe Business Complex.
