"Lost and Found," a new art installation in the Civic Plaza, debuted on Aug. 31 to reveal stories of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sharing stories of things lost and found since the onset of coronavirus, the Civic Plaza was inspired to create the exhibit from prayer flags that are found in many cultures, KRQE reports.

“The flags are made of paper, demonstrating that we are all transient," Deputy of Arts and Culture Hakim Bellamy said. "Paper is a transient material and the transient nature of life."

The art installation features more than 500 black and white flags.

Loss, hope and victory are a few symbols that the art represents, according to those that worked behind the scenes to create the final masterpiece. Peace, compassion, strength and wisdom are a few other symbols the prayer flags represent according to Wikipedia.

Through Sept.14, community members can share their stories with attendants at the installation who plan to collect photos and videos for a later project, according to KRQE, and pre-recorded messages can be sent to lostandfound@cabq.gov.
