TIME Magazine’s annual list of the World’s 100 Greatest Places listed Santa Fe among the entries.

A news release published by the New Mexico Tourism Department on July 20 said the state capital, which is known as “The City Different,” is one of only 19 U.S. destinations named.

"New Mexico destinations like Santa Fe epitomize the essence of adventure steeped in culture," Cabinet Secretary Jen Paul Schroer said in a press release. "From the countless art galleries, museums, restaurants and shops to world-class lodging options to the plethora of nearby outdoor experiences, Santa Fe has a bit of everything to offer the venturesome traveler."

The issue featuring the list has already hit newsstands.

TIME called Santa Fe a "Monument to the Southwest" and highlighted some local businesses, including the newly opened Bishop's Lodge, Auberge Resort Collection.
