The state of New Mexico has the highest unemployment rates in the country, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, coming in at 7.9%, much of which is related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Mexico has steadily been rising in the ranks of highest unemployment since earlier this year.

"It went from bad to worse under this Governor. We are the worst in the nation with the highest unemployment. It's time we had a Governor who will fight to attract jobs here instead of forcing people to move out of state," Jay Block, a Republican candidate for governor for the 2022 election, tweeted.

Until the end of June, New Mexico, Connecticut and Nevada all had unemployment rates of 7.8%, while New York, Hawaii and California had 7.7% unemployment, with New Jersey coming in at 7.3%. All of these states are Democrat-run, Pinon Post reported.

Colorado was experiencing unemployment rates of 6.2%, Texas had unemployment rates of 6.5%, Arizona had an unemployment rate of 6.8% and Utah’s was only 2.7%. New Mexico rose to the highest unemployment rate in a matter of two months.
