The Rio Grande Foundation is teaming up with the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association (NMSSA) to host the inaugural Fight for Freedom event, an effort to protect the Second Amendment rights of gun ownership.

Patrick Brenner, a Rio Grande Foundation member and one of the main sponsors of the event, encouraged those interested in Second Amendment rights to attend. The event will include a sporting clays tournament and range day.

“The NM Shooting Sports Association and Rio Grande Foundation are teaming up to protect our right to bear arms,” Brenner said in a tweet

The tournament and range day will be held Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Founders Ranch, located at 74 Barton Rd. in Edgewood, according to a NMSSA flyer.

Tickets are available for between $25-$80 via Eventbite and event organizers encourage donations to assist the NMSSA.

Both the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association and the Rio Grande Foundation are nonprofit organizations that are holding this event not only to protect the Second Amendment, but also to support the new coalition effort and shotgun competition and range day fund.
