Santa Fe’s International Folk Art Market (IFAM) is scheduled for July 7-11 and 14-18, and while sponsors said the event will be a little smaller this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the artwork displayed will be memorable as always.

The event in 2020 was cancelled because of the pandemic.

Works from all over the world will be featured, including those of renowned artists, and several new artists will have their artwork displayed, organizers said.

Tickets, which are reportedly selling fast, are $30 if ordered in advance and $40 at the door.

“We are incredibly grateful to the artists and volunteers that are working tirelessly to have this year's intimate event be as memorable as previous events,” Stuart Ashman, IFAM CEO, told the New Mexico Sun.”While the event will be smaller, the art is equally unique and one-of-a-kind. We are excited to unveil this year's participants and their work.”

Ashman added the event will be the first major art market in Santa Fe since the COVID pandemic.

“We look forward to welcoming our guests back to the city for another great International Folk Art Market,” he said.

The IFAM event website gives details of the event. The art show will be held on Museum Hill at the Museum of International Folk Art located at 706 Camino Lejo in Santa Fe.

In total, the art of 1,000 artists from 100 countries will be featured representing over $34 million in earnings, the website noted.

Some of the types of exotic and foreign art to be displayed can be seen on the IFAM web page.

The event was first held in 2004 in Santa Fe, which for decades has been an important community for artists. The website said the mission statement of the IFAM organization is to create opportunities for folk artists worldwide and to preserve folk art traditions.

“The International Folk Art Market envisions a world that values the dignity and humanity of the handmade, honors timeless cultural traditions, and supports the work of folk artists serving as entrepreneurs and catalysts for positive social change,” the website stated.
