Locker #505 and Keep Albuquerque Beautiful, a program of the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department, are partnering to sponsor the Ninth Annual Recyclothes event on June 5 at the Hinkle Family Fun Center.

A city of Albuquerque release said the clothing drive helps the "thousands of students in the greater Albuquerque area" who lack basic necessities.

"This year, go green and spring clean! As you organize your closets, dresser drawers, and even your garages, set aside clean, gently-used clothing to benefit the lives of Albuquerque students. You can help make a difference in a child’s life," the release said. "Please bring your gently used clothing for K-12 students to Hinkle Family Fun Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 5. In honor of National Donut Day, there will be free pre-packaged donuts while supplies last."

According to the release, all clothes donated will be given to the Locker #505 Clothing Bank which partners with Albuquerque Public Schools to make sure students have clothes, undergarments, coats and shoes.

Locker #505 student clothing bank is a nonprofit organization established to provide clothing for K-12 students so that they can focus on school, their site states.

The original BCCPTA Clothing Bank was established in 1950, but closed in 2013 and then reopened in 2014.

"At Locker #505, we hope that each student who passes through our doors will stay in school and one day graduate. These children are our future. We need to be sure they are given every opportunity to learn and to succeed," the site said.
