The Brazilian Army has received its first UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter, marking the start of a planned fleet upgrade that will bring 12 of these aircraft into service. This new addition is intended to enhance Brazil's tactical airlift, medical evacuation, and disaster response capabilities.
Rich Benton, Sikorsky vice president and general manager, commented on the delivery: “The arrival of the first UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter in Brazil is a proud moment in our ongoing partnership. These aircraft will play a critical role in supporting the Brazilian Army's operations, and we are committed to delivering exceptional logistical support to ensure their continued success.”
The relationship between the Brazilian Army and Sikorsky began in 1997 with the acquisition of the first Black Hawk helicopters. Over nearly three decades, Sikorsky has provided logistical support to help maintain effective aviation operations for Brazil’s military. The Brazilian Air Force also operates UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, which improves interoperability among Brazil’s armed forces.
Currently used by 36 countries and with more than 15 million flight hours recorded worldwide, the Black Hawk is widely recognized as a multi-role helicopter suitable for various missions.
