South Broadway Cultural Center opens annual Our Lady of Guadalupe exhibit

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The South Broadway Cultural Center is hosting its annual exhibition to honor the first apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an event that holds cultural and spiritual significance for many in the community. The exhibition opens with an artist reception scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 12, at the center’s gallery.

This year marks both the 101st anniversary of the neighborhood’s tradition commemorating the apparition, which occurred in 1531 on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico, and the 30th anniversary of the gallery space itself. Over time, this event has become a longstanding tradition aimed at fostering unity and celebrating cultural heritage within the South Broadway neighborhood.

A notable feature of this year's exhibition is a community altar created by Los Guadalupanos. This altar serves as a central element for reflection and reverence, inviting visitors to engage with both cultural and spiritual aspects related to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The exhibition will remain open through January 2. Visitors can view it during regular gallery hours from Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., at 1025 Broadway Blvd SE.
