The Giving Machine, an initiative by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be available in Albuquerque for the first time this holiday season. The interactive vending machine allows visitors to donate items such as warm clothing, meals, hygiene kits, clean water, vaccinations, and shelter services to those in need. All donations go directly to participating nonprofits.

This year’s Giving Machine will support five local charities: Barrett Foundation, Saranam, Cuidando Los Niños, Haven House, and Bethel Storehouse. In addition to these local organizations, two global nonprofit partners—Days for Girls and Church World Services—will also benefit from the donations.

In a new collaboration for Albuquerque, New Mexico United is partnering with the initiative. The Giving Machine will be available at the New Mexico United Team Store for one day on December 11 before moving to Cottonwood Mall from December 12 through January 1.

“We’re proud to support an initiative that strengthens our community,” said Ron Patel, President of New Mexico United. “Bringing the Giving Machine into our space helps us extend meaningful support to New Mexicans, and with fans who always show out for this community, the team store is the perfect place for that generosity to shine.”

The machine will then be installed on the lower level of Cottonwood Mall near Dillard’s. Aimee Awonohopay, General Manager of Cottonwood Mall stated: “We’re thrilled to welcome the ABQ Giving Machine to Cottonwood Mall this holiday season. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and make a real difference, providing a simple and meaningful way to support those in need right here in New Mexico.”

Giving Machines are part of the global Light the World initiative organized annually by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Last year’s campaign generated millions in donations worldwide.

Details about locations and participating charities can be found online.
