The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team is set to host Cameron University in a Lone Star Conference game on Thursday, December 4, at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena. The matchup is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
The Greyhounds enter the contest with a 3-3 record after securing a 68-64 non-conference win against Southwestern Oklahoma State earlier in the week. In that game, junior guard Julieta Ceja led ENMU with 20 points and made three out of four attempts from beyond the arc, also collecting four rebounds.
Nataya Lockett contributed a double-double performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds, adding three steals and making nine out of ten free throws. Tatiana Platonova scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds, and provided a team-high five assists.
Aaliyah Smith currently leads ENMU in scoring this season with an average of 12.8 points per game while shooting .500 from the field and recording 13 steals. Ceja averages 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, has seven steals, and holds a .583 percentage from three-point range. Chloe Dallas adds 10.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game along with five blocks and a .553 field goal percentage.
As a team, Eastern New Mexico averages 75.2 points per game compared to opponents' average of 67.2 points. The Greyhounds shoot .415 from the field and .345 from three-point range while holding opponents to .446 shooting overall but just .293 from long distance. ENMU maintains a narrow rebounding edge over its opponents at 35 rebounds per game versus their opponents' average of 34.7.
Defensively, the Greyhounds force an average of 21.5 turnovers per game while committing only 16.8 themselves. The team leads the Lone Star Conference in steals with an average of 12.7 per game compared to their opponents' average of 7.2.
Cameron University enters Thursday's matchup looking for its first win of the season after falling to Northwestern Oklahoma State on November 25 by a score of 83-56. Madison Griggs leads Cameron with an average of 20.3 points per game along with fifteen assists while shooting .457 from the field this season. Kloe Heidebrecht is averaging ten and a half points per contest, while Ayonna Cooper adds nearly six points and just over five rebounds per game with an .857 free-throw percentage.
The Aggies are averaging just under sixty points per game as a team, shooting .362 overall and .240 from three-point range but have been strong on the boards with an average of over forty-one rebounds each contest and lead in blocks at five-and-a-half per game.
Eastern New Mexico leads the all-time series between these programs thirty wins to eighteen losses and won last year's meeting in Portales by a score of eighty-two to fifty-four.
