Jose Murillo has been named the NABC/D2CIDA national player of the week following his performance at the CSU Pueblo Thanksgiving Classic.

"This is a great honor for Jose," said head coach Daven Võ. "He works so hard and means so much to this program."

Murillo stands out in the Lone Star Conference as the only player currently averaging a double double, with 17.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. The senior from Chihuahua, Mexico, has recorded three double doubles this season, matching his total from last year.

During Eastern New Mexico's win over MSU Denver, Murillo scored 15 points and collected 15 rebounds in 29 minutes on the court. He also achieved a career-high four steals and contributed two blocks in that game.

In another key victory against previously undefeated CSU Pueblo, Murillo posted a season-high 21 points and added 15 rebounds, along with four blocked shots.

Murillo is the first Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball player to receive national player of the week honors since Jahcoree Ealy was recognized in December 2023.

Eastern New Mexico and Murillo are scheduled to play next at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena on Thursday, December 4, when they host Cameron at 7:30 p.m. to open Lone Star Conference play.
