Western New Mexico University's men's basketball team secured its third consecutive win with an 85-79 victory over Colorado Christian University on Wednesday at the CCU Event Center in Lakewood, Colorado. The Mustangs improved their season record to 4-1, while the Cougars dropped to 2-3.
The game featured a close contest with 11 ties and 17 lead changes. Western New Mexico overcame an early deficit after falling behind 16–4 in the first half. A series of fast breaks and layups helped the Mustangs reduce the gap, highlighted by a dunk from Keylon Dorsey at the 6:26 mark. Carson Kelly made two free throws late in the half to bring Western New Mexico within one point, but they trailed 39–38 at halftime.
In the second half, Andre Harris played a key role for Western New Mexico by scoring multiple jumpers that gave his team an early lead. Cortaviaus Seales contributed important points inside, helping maintain momentum for the Mustangs. Despite efforts from Colorado Christian to stay competitive, Western New Mexico capitalized on turnovers and made crucial free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Seales led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting and added four assists. Harris finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Kelly had 13 points—making all six of his free throw attempts—and five assists. Dorsey added nine points and three rebounds.
Western New Mexico will next play against New Mexico Highlands University on Friday, November 27, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
