Clerk Michelle S. Kavanaugh is reminding Albuquerque residents to pay attention to deadlines for the upcoming City of Albuquerque Runoff Election, which will take place on December 9. She is encouraging voters to consider absentee voting as a convenient method.

“Absentee voting is a secure and convenient way to participate in the runoff election,” said Clerk Kavanaugh. “If voting by mail is the best option for you or your family, now is the time to request your ballot and return it as soon as possible.”

Absentee ballots will begin mailing on November 18. Voters have until November 25 to request an absentee ballot. All completed absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, December 9. Voters can return their ballots by mail, hand-deliver them to any Early Voting or Election Day polling location, or use an official ballot drop box.

Requests for absentee ballots can be made at NMVote.org.

Other important dates include November 18, which is the last day to register to vote online or on paper. Early Voting and Same Day Registration (SDR) will be available from December 1 through December 6 at 17 locations across Bernalillo County from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with details available at berncoclerk.gov/elections/early-voting/. On Election Day, December 9, voters can also access Same Day Registration at any of the 50 locations across Bernalillo County between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with more information at berncoclerk.gov/elections/election-day-voting/.

The runoff election includes races for Mayor of Albuquerque and City Council Districts 1 and 3.
