Eastern New Mexico women's basketball falls to Oklahoma Baptist in close contest

The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team was defeated by Oklahoma Baptist University, 93-85, in a road game at the Noble Complex in Shawnee on Tuesday night. The result leaves the Greyhounds with a 1-2 record for the season, while Oklahoma Baptist improves to 2-1.

The match was closely contested, featuring nine ties and ten lead changes. After trailing 24-21 at the end of the first quarter, Eastern New Mexico rallied to take a 44-39 lead into halftime. Oklahoma Baptist responded in the third quarter, outscoring ENMU 30-23 and taking a 69-67 advantage. The Bison maintained their momentum in the final period, finishing with a 24-18 run to secure the win.

Shay Moseberry led Eastern New Mexico with 14 points, making three of nine attempts from three-point range. She also recorded three steals and two blocks in her 22 minutes on the court. Aaliyah Smith contributed 12 points off the bench on five-of-twelve shooting. Chloe Dallas and Julieta Ceja each added 12 points; Dallas collected five rebounds while Ceja had two.

Martrice Brooks finished with 11 points and five rebounds for ENMU, converting four of seven free throws.

Eastern New Mexico scored 36 points in the paint and tallied 20 fast-break points during the game. The team's bench contributed significantly with 31 points. The Greyhounds took advantage of turnovers by Oklahoma Baptist, scoring 24 points as a result and adding another twelve second-chance points.

Despite these efforts, Oklahoma Baptist's strong third quarter proved decisive.

Eastern New Mexico will travel to Wichita, Kansas next to participate in the Newman Classic on Friday and Saturday. They are scheduled to face nationally ranked Fort Hays State on Friday before playing host Newman on Saturday.
