Federal judge orders full funding of SNAP benefits amid legal challenges

Attorney General Raúl Torrez has responded to a federal judge's decision in Rhode Island, which mandates the Trump Administration to fully fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits by November 7. The administration has appealed this ruling.

"This is a major victory for families across New Mexico," said Attorney General Raúl Torrez. "Hundreds of thousands of New Mexicans utilize SNAP benefits to put food on the table, and today’s ruling ensures they will receive this support. My office will continue to stand up for families when the federal government fails to meet its legal and moral obligations to our communities."

The court's decision follows an attempt by the Trump Administration to partially fund SNAP, leading to confusion and delays for states. Attorney General Torrez has also joined another lawsuit against the administration, challenging its suspension of SNAP benefits as unlawful under the Administrative Procedure Act.
