Ten new graduates have joined the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) after completing the first Industry Credential Pipeline Program. This program is a collaborative effort between NMDOT, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS), and CNM Ingenuity. The signing ceremony took place on October 31, where graduates finalized their employment agreements with NMDOT to become Highway Maintenance Workers.

The program spans ten weeks and offers paid training that equips participants with industry-recognized certifications. It aims to address workforce needs in New Mexico's transportation sector by providing hands-on training and building a skilled workforce ready for high-demand roles.

"This program demonstrates what’s possible when state agencies work together to create real career pathways," said NMDOT Secretary Ricky Serna. He emphasized the benefits of aligning workforce training with industry needs, highlighting its positive impact on employees, communities, and the state's transportation system.

NMDWS Secretary Sarita Nair also praised the initiative: "Through a shared vision, this partnership of education, workforce development, and career opportunities has prepared these participants for lifelong careers right here in New Mexico." She noted that investing in people and practical training ensures skilled professionals support the state's infrastructure.

Graduates earned several credentials through the program, including a Class A Commercial Driver’s License funded by CNM Ingenuity, heavy equipment training funded by NMDOT, OSHA 10 Certification, Flagger Certification, and Vehicle Preventative Maintenance Certification.

CNM President Tracy Hartzler expressed pride in participating in this initiative: "At CNM, we’re always ready, willing, and able to engage in partnerships that deliver powerful results for learners, employers, and our state’s economy." She looked forward to expanding this initiative with partners to provide more workforce solutions for New Mexico.
