Western New Mexico University Softball has announced the signing of eight new student-athletes as part of its 2026 recruiting class on National Signing Day. The incoming group includes players from New Mexico and Arizona, each bringing different skills to the team.
Head Coach Hickman commented on the new recruits: "We are excited to announce our new class of Mustangs. These student athletes have a fierce competitor's mindset that will help continue to bring a winning edge to our program. It has been fun to watch them grow and play top competition, which prepares them for WNMU and the LSC. Congratulations to each one and their families."
Among those joining is Angel Saiz from Bayard, NM, who plays pitcher and middle infielder at Cobre High School and The Wicked Select club. She plans to major in Biology and chose Western New Mexico University because it offers her a strong career path while keeping her close to home.
Keelie Goodman, a shortstop from Mountain View High School in Mesa, AZ, will major in Kinesiology. She cited the university’s small community feel as an important factor in her decision.
Amaya Serrano joins from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, AZ. As a catcher and second baseman who played for Tennessee Mojo Ramsey/Corey, she plans to study Criminal Justice. Serrano said she chose WNMU because it feels like home and challenges her.
Eliana Romero comes from Sahuarita High School in Arizona where she played with Arizona Rising Vela. A middle infielder and outfielder planning to major in Criminal Justice, Romero wanted both family proximity and high-level competition.
Kennedy Trillo of Scottsdale Christian Academy (Phoenix) is known for her hitting power at first base and outfield positions. She competes with AZ Storm-Walding club team and will study Kinesiology.
Pitcher Hayden Bores arrives from Marana’s Ironwood Ridge High School after playing with AZ Cats Luna club team. Planning an Education major, Bores noted she was drawn by the campus environment.
Brooke Downs joins as a utility player from Canyon View High School in Litchfield Park, AZ; she played with Arizona Rising Westover club team and intends to major in Criminal Justice.
Olivia Vance comes from Casa Grande Union High School where she caught for AZ Cats Luna; she plans on studying Marketing.
The addition of these athletes reflects Western New Mexico University Softball’s focus on teamwork, growth, and community engagement within NCAA Division II athletics as part of the Lone Star Conference (LSC).
