Western New Mexico men’s cross country finishes season ranked nineteenth at regional championship

The Western New Mexico University Men's Cross Country team finished 19th out of 24 teams at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship held in Pueblo, Colorado. The event took place at the Walking Stick Golf Course on Saturday.

Samuel Ketcham was the team's top finisher, coming in 68th place with a time of 32:30.3 in the men's 10K race. Michael Castorena followed closely behind, finishing 72nd with a time of 32:40.9. Cameron Shorty placed 101st, completing the course in 33:31.9.

Other team members who contributed to the Mustangs' performance included Morgan Haan, who finished in 121st place with a time of 34:23.5, and Jonah Cortez, who came in at 142nd with a time of 35:30.1. Ameen Ibrahim finished in 152nd place (36:18.2), while Dax Rios rounded out the lineup for Western New Mexico University by finishing in 157th place (38:32.9).

The team scored a total of 504 points during the meet.

This event marks the end of the cross country season for Western New Mexico University’s men’s team as they prepare for their upcoming track and field season in spring.

Western New Mexico University is part of NCAA Division II and competes within the Lone Star Conference.
