The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team was defeated by St. Mary's in a four-set match on Friday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena. The final score was 3-1 (15-25, 16-25, 25-20, 22-25) in favor of St. Mary's.
Sophia Valdez led the Greyhounds with a double-double, recording 10 kills and 14 digs along with a service ace. Addison Bartlett contributed eight kills on 31 attempts and had a team-high four service aces as well as three digs. Amya Speller added eight kills on 15 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Imahni Brown collected 20 digs, marking her seventh match this season with at least 20 digs and her first since October 24 against UT Dallas. Linden Pennings had six kills and two blocks; Isabella Hidalgo finished with five kills and five digs; Zakara Masibo-Ballard also posted five kills and three digs.
Catalina Gutierrez led the team with 15 assists and added three service aces. Violeta Flores contributed ten digs, 13 assists, and two service aces.
The Greyhounds managed to win the third set after losing the first two, hitting .313 as a team during that set. In the fourth set, they recorded 13 kills but were unable to overcome St. Mary's.
Eastern New Mexico finished the match with 43 kills at a .054 hitting percentage, alongside 40 assists, 11 service aces, and 71 digs. The team registered seven total blocks—one solo block and six block assists.
St. Mary's was led by Laurene Robinson with ten kills and three blocks while Alyssa Koehl added 14 digs. The Rattlers ended the match with 46 kills at a .184 hitting percentage.
The Greyhounds will play again on Saturday, November 8 against St. Edward's at home for Senior Day.
