Eastern New Mexico women’s soccer hosts Midwestern State for Senior Day

The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team will recognize its senior players during the final home match of the season against Midwestern State University on Saturday, November 1. The Lone Star Conference game is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium in Portales.

The Greyhounds have yet to secure a win this season, holding an overall record of 0-15 and a conference record of 0-12. Their opponent, the Mustangs, arrive with an 8-1-6 overall record and remain unbeaten in conference play at 8-0-4.

Junior forward Louise Godden has been a key contributor for Eastern New Mexico, scoring three of the team's four goals this season and leading with six points. Godden recently scored in a 1-5 loss to St. Mary's on October 26 in San Antonio. She has taken 17 shots, five of which were on target.

Goalkeeper Rosie Willmott Joyce has played most matches for ENMU, making 79 saves across 918 minutes and posting a .632 save percentage. Kiley Patalan has also contributed with six saves over three appearances.

Throughout the season, ENMU has faced significant challenges offensively and defensively. The team has been outshot by opponents 347 to 72 and trails in shots on goal by a margin of 172 to 36. They have earned only 23 corner kicks compared to their opponents' 103.

Saturday's match will include Senior Day celebrations honoring Cristina Maria Boluda Piqueras, Kaylee Baker, Mariana Gonzalez Jimenez, Samantha Wood, Louise Godden, and Gaia Chies for their contributions to the program.

Midwestern State presents a strong challenge for the Greyhounds. The Mustangs' only defeat came against Ouachita Baptist on September 9; since then they have gone unbeaten in their last thirteen matches following a recent victory over UT Permian Basin.

Marlene Myrvold and Lillia Besedin lead Midwestern State's offense with six goals each this season. Myrvold tops the team with fourteen points while Besedin has registered twenty-five shots. Goalkeeper Tanner Sorenson holds a record of five wins and no losses with four draws, including three shutouts and nine goals allowed over nearly eight hundred minutes played.

Historically, Midwestern State leads the series against ENMU with nineteen wins to seven losses and three draws.

After Saturday’s game, Eastern New Mexico will end its season on November 4 with an away match against Texas A&M International in Laredo.
