The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is set to host the 11th annual HomeGrown: A New Mexico Food Show & Gift Market on November 22-23. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $10 per vehicle, with the first 100 vehicles each day receiving a complimentary shopping bag.
The event is co-hosted by the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum and the New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA). Jeff Witte, New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture, said, "NMDA is proud to once again co-host HomeGrown with the Museum." He added that the event showcases "the best of New Mexico’s food, beverage and craft products."
Approximately 60 vendors are expected at the event, featuring food and beverage companies from across the state. Many vendors are members of NMDA’s NEW MEXICO — Taste the Tradition / Grown with Tradition. Attendees can sample and purchase locally produced items such as salsas, nuts, sauces, wine, Native American pottery, and jewelry.
Chef Ambassador Becky Windels will conduct food demonstrations at the event. Food trucks will also be present to serve lunch each day.
Notable vendors include Phil’s Gourmet Sauces from Albuquerque and J.P.M’s Salsa from Las Cruces. A selection of New Mexico wineries will offer samples and sales by glass or bottle.
Doña Ana County 4-H members will sell decorated mini-Christmas trees and wreaths. Raffle tickets for these decorations can be purchased for a drawing on Sunday at 2 p.m.
On Saturday morning, children can participate in an educational program about sheep and wool spinning through the Museum's Ag Wagon initiative.
The museum is located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road in Las Cruces and operates under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. It offers exhibits detailing 4,000 years of agriculture in New Mexico.
