Eastern New Mexico University will honor its 2025 Alumni Homecoming Honorees and the Educator Hall of Honor inductee during the 49th Annual ENMU Foundation Homecoming Breakfast. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the Campus Union Ballroom.
The awards are presented by the ENMU Alumni Association, the ENMU Foundation, and the Educator Hall of Honor. James Johnston, Chancellor of Eastern New Mexico University, said, “Homecoming is a time to welcome back and celebrate our alumni, and the Annual Foundation Homecoming Breakfast is a great tradition and opportunity to recognize some of our very best. On behalf of ENMU, congratulations to these outstanding alums and thank you for being outstanding representatives of what it means to be a Greyhound.”
The Distinguished Service Award will go to Annemarie Oldfield. Oldfield has spent nearly forty years at Eastern New Mexico University as a student, educator, and administrator. She retired in May 2025 after serving as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at ENMU-Roswell.
Phillip Bustos will receive the Honorary Service Award. Bustos has worked in student success initiatives and educational leadership across several states. He earned his master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1979 before working in drug and alcohol prevention programs as well as higher education administration.
Douglas Anderson is one recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award. Anderson began studying at ENMU in 1995 with plans to become a professor. After earning his Master’s in Anthropology from ENMU in 1999, he completed further graduate work and later taught at Front Range Community College in Colorado. In recent years he joined the Peace Corps where he focused on nutrition and education projects abroad.
Dr. Rachael Frija also receives an Outstanding Alumni Award for her contributions to nursing education throughout New Mexico. Frija started her career as a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner in Albuquerque before completing her Master of Science in Nursing at ENMU in 2016. She holds certifications in Nursing Professional Development and Executive Leadership.
Ahren M. Griego is another Outstanding Alumni Award winner recognized for his work with youth through teaching and athletics after completing two graduate degrees at Eastern New Mexico University.
Dr. Gerry Washburn will be inducted into the Educator Hall of Honor this year. Washburn has served more than thirty years in public education and currently leads Carlsbad Municipal Schools as superintendent since 2019.
