The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is preparing to mark its 25th anniversary with a celebration on October 25. The event will feature art activities, guided tours, and musical performances. NHCC Executive Director Zack Quintero emphasized the center's role as a cultural hub since its opening in 2000. "As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we look back on 25 years of growth and hard work, and we also look ahead to a bright future for the Center and our community," he said.

The NHCC was established after more than ten years of efforts by the Hispanic Cultural Foundation and co-founder Ed Lujan. Its inauguration in October 2000 was attended by notable figures such as Prince Felipe de Borbón of Spain (now King Felipe VI) and Vice President Al Gore.

The anniversary event will begin at 11:00 a.m., featuring tours of the NHCC Torreón and its large Mundos de Mestizaje fresco. Performances will include Azteca dancers and the National Institute of Flamenco. Visitors can also participate in various activities like dance performances, crown-making, and face-painting throughout the day. The evening will conclude with a performance by Nosotros, an award-winning Latin band starting at 6:00 p.m.

Following the main event on October 25, additional free guided tours of the Visual Art Museum Collections are scheduled for October 28, October 30, and November 1. These tours offer a behind-the-scenes look at over 4,500 artworks in the museum's permanent collection.

The NHCC operates under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and receives support from the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation. More information about these events can be found at nhccnm.org/events.
