The University of New Mexico Taos Campus has announced an external search for a Manager Library Operations. The position is full-time and based at the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus, with an annual salary range between $61,131.20 and $71,406.40. The application deadline for best consideration is October 27, 2025.
The Manager Library Operations will report to the Dean of Instruction and oversee all aspects of library services. Responsibilities include public and technical services such as original cataloging, supervision of copy cataloging activities, facilities management, equipment needs, budget planning, collection development, library instruction, faculty outreach, acquisitions, student technology lending programs, and computer operations. The manager will also supervise full-time and part-time library staff and represent the campus library on various committees.
Additional duties involve managing day-to-day operations in a collaborative environment and advocating for the library’s services and resources. The manager will develop and maintain department budgets according to university policy, formulate policies and procedures as needed, supervise staff work allocation and scheduling, support professional development opportunities for staff members, review materials for collection development in areas of expertise, serve as a liaison to teaching faculty when necessary, maintain databases and statistics related to the library’s operation, facilitate software platform implementation tasks that do not require programming skills, maintain licenses for library databases, and represent the university in all internal and external initiatives related to the library.
A notable aspect of this role is stewardship over regional history collections. The manager will be responsible for further developing the Senator Carlos Cisneros and Healy Foundation Land Grant and Acequia Archives. This archive contains historical acequia documents dating back centuries that record information about local commissioners’ projects, legal histories of water rights infrastructure in northern New Mexico communities, and community challenges addressed by these organizations over time.
