Deb Haaland participated in the 112th Northern Navajo Nation Fair by joining the Shiprock Parade in Shiprock, New Mexico. During the event, she engaged with voters along the three-mile parade route to discuss issues such as rising everyday costs attributed to tariffs, the importance of investment in education, healthcare protection, and community safety.
Haaland stated, “It was a joy to join the Navajo Nation to honor their history and culture. I will always protect the traditions, sovereignty, and economic future of every Tribe, and today I’m wishing the best to all of the folks participating in the rodeo, dances, songs and traditional activities.”
As part of her Lift Up New Mexico Tour stop in Shiprock, Haaland also met with residents at a local coffee shop to talk about Tribal Sovereignty, educational needs, and opportunities for small businesses. She has traveled across all 33 counties in New Mexico during her campaign to listen to concerns from constituents and discuss potential solutions for challenges facing the state.
