New Mexico United, together with the Somos Unidos Foundation, has launched its annual Holiday Tour, a community outreach effort that began in 2019. The tour is now in its seventh year and aims to support families, schools, and organizations throughout New Mexico.
The initiative involves New Mexico United players, coaches, and staff visiting over a dozen communities across the state. The tour includes free soccer clinics for children, delivery of essential goods, and support for local schools and nonprofits that have been identified as most in need. Presbyterian Healthcare Services is the main sponsor of the tour and will be present at selected clinics to offer free vaccines and promote public health.
“The Holiday Tour brings our mission to life—connecting our players and communities through shared joy, generosity, and play,” said Phia Smith, Executive Director of the Somos Unidos Foundation. “Every stop is a reminder that Somos Unidos isn’t just a slogan—it’s a promise to invest in every corner of our state.”
The Somos Unidos Foundation serves as the official charitable arm of New Mexico United. It operates year-round on programs focused on education, health, and youth development in underserved areas. The Holiday Tour is described as one of its most visible community initiatives.
The club and foundation collaborate with local leaders to identify urgent needs in each community visited during the tour. This approach ensures that donations and assistance are directed where they are most needed.
The 2025 tour began on October 1 and will continue until December 6. Community members are encouraged to contribute by donating basic household items such as laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, kitchenware, cookware, sweatpants, and men’s shoes. Donations can be dropped off at the New Mexico United Team Store until November 14. All items collected will be distributed directly to schools and nonprofit partners serving high-need communities.
