The New Mexico State Library has announced an open position for Deputy State Librarian, with applications accepted until October 15. The role is based in Santa Fe and offers a full-time, permanent appointment with an annual salary range between $81,349 and $130,159.
According to the announcement, the Deputy State Librarian will have direct oversight of several key programs including Rural Services (Bookmobiles, Books by Mail, Delivery), the Technical Services Bureau, and the Digital Equity Program. The individual will also serve as Acting State Librarian when necessary. Responsibilities include managing finance processes, grant management, building issues, staff and committee meetings, as well as supervision of all library departments such as Library Development, Administration and HR, Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, and Public Services. The position also represents the State Library Division within Department of Cultural Affairs activities.
The library seeks candidates who have demonstrated success in dynamic library settings and show adaptability to state work environments. A willingness to learn new skills and policies is emphasized.
