Lexington SC’s situation worsened when Daniel Wu received a red card in the 38th minute, leaving his team with ten players for the remainder of the game. Despite being down a player, Lexington managed to score in the 64th minute, reducing New Mexico’s lead to one goal.
Inclement weather caused significant disruptions throughout the match. A second delay occurred at the 90th minute, lasting an additional two hours before play resumed with eight minutes of stoppage time added. New Mexico United maintained their defense through this period and held on for the win.
