Western New Mexico women’s cross country sets records at UC Riverside Invitational

Western New Mexico University’s women’s cross country team finished 11th at the UC Riverside Invitational held on Saturday in Riverside, California. The event featured 254 runners competing in a highly competitive field.

Aubrey Lozoya led the Mustangs by finishing 12th overall with a time of 18:12.8. This result was both a personal best and set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark held by Gracey Lovato, who ran 18:29.7. Vanessa Dominguez also achieved a personal best, completing the race in 19:20.4 and placing 95th, improving on her previous time of 20:00.1.

Other notable performances included McKenna Sahd, who finished with a time of 19:35.4—an improvement from her earlier best of 20:02.6—and Jeanette Rivera, who clocked in at 19:39.7 after previously recording a best of 20:42.6.

The team ended the meet with a score of 351 points and will next compete against Dallas Baptist University at the Old Glory Gallop in Dallas, Texas, on October 11.
