In August, the American Institute of Physics (AIP) and AIP Foundation held an event in downtown Santa Fe to honor France Córdova, who serves as an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute. The evening included a reception and a discussion featuring Córdova, Santa Fe Institute President David Krakauer, Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Thomas Mason, and Jill Hruby, former U.S. Under Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Security.
During the celebration, AIP Foundation announced the establishment of the France A. Córdova Endowed Forum on Science Policy & Society. This annual public event is intended to focus on important issues that connect science with policy and society.
“It is our way of carrying forward Córdova’s lifelong commitment to inclusive excellence, public engagement, and the advancement of science,” AIP Foundation wrote in a statement.
