Deb Haaland, governor of New Mexico and former U.S. Secretary of the Interior, recently shared a series of posts on her official X account addressing community events, voting rights, and public health challenges in the state.

On September 20, 2025, Haaland extended support to students during homecoming season, stating: "This homecoming season, I'm sending well wishes to our students celebrating! Our kids in New Mexico deserve to grow up in safe communities and create memories to last a lifetime. I'm committed to uplifting these community centered events as governor."

Two days later, on September 22, she reflected on her early experiences in civic engagement and addressed concerns about voting rights: "I got my start driving across New Mexico registering people to vote in rural areas because I believe that everyone should have a voice in our elections. I've never stopped believing that. With the Trump Administration working to gerrymander people out of their votes, now more".

On September 23, Haaland discussed attending a Fentanyl Awareness Walk in Española and drew upon her personal history with sobriety to highlight pressing issues facing New Mexico. She wrote: "Fentanyl Awareness Walk in Española - My journey to sobriety taught me that you must face hard truths if you want to make change, which is why I’ll never shy away from the challenges that face New Mexico. High prices, homelessness, crime, and addiction weigh heavily on our state."

As governor since January 2025 and previously serving as Secretary of the Interior under President Biden, Deb Haaland has focused her administration on community engagement and addressing statewide challenges such as substance abuse and voter access.
