Western New Mexico University's men's cross country team finished sixth at the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock, Texas, scoring 170 points. Junior Samuel Ketcham led the Mustangs with a 23rd-place finish and a time of 26:19.3. Teammate Michael Castorena followed in 29th place, clocking in at 26:48.6, while Cameron Shorty completed the top three for Western New Mexico by finishing 32nd with a time of 26:53.8.
Texas Tech took first place in the meet, highlighted by freshman Titus Kimaru's winning time of 22:51.2 over the eight-kilometer course.
Freshmen Morgan Haan and Ameen Ibrahim contributed to Western New Mexico’s effort by placing 37th and 49th respectively, with times of 27:01.5 and 27:43.2. The team's average race time was 26:57.28.

The Mustangs will compete next at the UC Riverside invite on September 27 in Riverside, California.
